HUSSEY WANTS TO RETURN

Michael Hussey endeared himself to the Australian cricketing public further recently by expressing his burning desire to help return Australia to the top of the pile in the Test rankings, an opinion which is shared by many within Australia.

For an Australian public who have been so privileged by having such incredible teams throughout the years, they have grown accustomed to being the best team in the world, which has made the last few years even harder to swallow. However, there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, with the present Australian team showing signs that they are indeed up to the challenge of reclaiming their title as the best Test team in the world.

Hussey went on to describe every series now as just a stepping stone to the greater goal of achieving that ranking of number 1, explaining how the team talk about reclaiming that honour every day. Hussey is an exceptionally driven cricketer, and one who really does wear the badge of Australia with a serious amount of pride.

He is a man who had to wait until he was in his thirties before getting a sniff at international level, so when he finally made the leap, he made no mistake in making up for lost time. For a while Hussey’s average hovered around the 80 mark, almost Bradman-esque, but as his career has panned out, he has averaged out around the 50 mark, which is still extremely respectable. He is still in the side on pure merit, and with the determination that Hussey possesses, it is likely he will help his side to that position they crave.

ARE ENGLAND THE BEST?

The England Cricket team, currently the number one side in Tests in the ICC Cricket Ratings, has the best blowing attack in the world, according to the captain of the side Andrew Strauss. According to the skipper, the contribution of the bowlers of the side in the team’s cause to reach the top cannot be undermined and he believes that they contributed as much as the batsmen, if not more to the cause. Strauss believes that in James Anderson and Stuart Broad, the side has by far the best bowling attack in world cricket at the moment and any other side would be envious as well as afraid of the pace attack.

Moreover, they get ample support from the likes of Tim Bresnan, Chris Tremlett, who has improved leaps and bounds in his game and this means that even if the frontline bowlers are not doing the job, the England Cricket team has plenty of options to turn to when there is the need for a few wickets or to check the runs. According to Strauss, not only these four bowlers, but also the backup bowlers in the form of Graeme Onions, Steven Finn provides a very good selection headache as far as the best XI is concerned.

Furthermore, in Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar, the England Cricket team has two world class spinners who could turn a game on its head at any moment and this, according to Strauss, has been a major factor in England becoming the top ranked Test side in the world. The recent run of form that his bowlers are in is providing the England skipper with extreme confidence that they will be able to maintain their status as the top side for some time to come and with the bowling lineup like that, not many people would argue.
