a wrong-un is using the same action as your normal leg-break. i think you’ll find that most leg spin bowls are out of the back of the hand anyway.

Ridiculous, a wrong’un is delivered out of the back of the hand.

Ha! Well doesn’t it just make him even better then, that he ‘couldn’t disguise his variations’ and still took over 700 test wickets? Yes, Qadir’s wrong-un/s may have been better disguised than Warne’s, but don’t be so naive as to think Warne’s wasn’t incredible. Have a look at some of the wickets he took with it.

There was no need for the ‘fuck off’ from Warney. That ball said it all. This trest was a heart-breaking 5 run loss for the Ausies: Couldn’t believe we lost it at the time.

Warne didn’t have a great wrong’un (and he largely abandoned his flipper too, because the slider was harder to pick and easier to bowl). But other leg-spinners have had extremely effective and difficult to pick wrong-uns, notably Qadir, who had two or three distinct versions of it. His wrong-uns were feared above all else, because his action lent itself very well to it. Warne, by contrast, had an explicit bowling action which barely disguised what the wrist was doing at all.

I used to bowl my wrong’un simply by twisting my wrist fractionally earlier in my bowling action, so that by the point of release it had gone past the back of the hand (which would be a top-spinner if it were released precisely there) and it was being released past my pinky. Back of the hand describes it well, though as I say, it was slightly further than the back of the hand.

Warne – “I’ve waited 2 years for a chance to humiliate you again”
Cullinan – “Looks like you spent it eating’

Lol as a South African who has been coached by this retard (Cullinan) I thank Warne for his fine work.

This must be very early a) in Shane Warne’s test career and b) soon after South Africa were re-admitted to Test cricket judging by the shirt insignia on both sides.

Warnie loved too mess with Cullinan he would bowl ordinary balls and always keep back the wicket taking ones

LOL I remember whenever Cullinan used to come out to bat we’d have about 10 people huddled around the TV. We knew it wouldn’t take more than about 6 balls for Warne to get him.

Daryll Cullinan was a wonderful batsmen, except against spin..

a wrong-un is delivered the exact same way as the normal leg-break delivery, but spinning the other way

Why don’t you know the difference between ‘then’ and ‘than’?

As a South African must say the one bowler Cullinan had no clue about was Warney.

You guys need to get over your obsession with the googly. The googly requires a change in action, hand is higher and the balls comes out of the back of the hand. it’s easy for any good batsmen to pick. Also, it’s only useful if bowled outside off stump, which is a different line to the leg break. The more useful balls are the slider and the flipper, which Warne was the best at by a country mile. That way there wasn’t a distinct change in action and the line would remain the same as the leg break

The only really good googly i can remember warnie bowling was to wasim akram to get him out stumped at the adelaide oval in 1996

For Warney they’re pretty rare, I don’t think he rated his Googly that much as Jon Kerr has said.

I don’t reckon he bowled that many Raj; and it certainly wasn’t his strongest delivery, the guys you mention had better wrong ‘uns but I would check out Robelinda2 he has heaps of videos; and karpurprem seems to have really good ones too

Cullinan was giving it to the aussies when Sa was fielding so the Aussies gave as good as they got

Great test bowling. Most bowlers these days shit themselves and throw their plans out the window if they get hit for four.

@ProfitableLifestyles well wouldn’t the lack of turn in a googly make it a lot like playing an off breaker with nowhere near enough spin? albeit one with a 2nd delivery?

He hasn’t bowled a ball like that for over ten years.
